Chris Edwards was born on 7th March 1977, & sadly lost his fight against this cruel disease on 30th November 2010, aged just 33. Chris was the perfect husband to wife Joanne, & an extremely proud & excited Father 'to be' to imminent arrival, their littleun 'Luca'. Chris is also the son of his Mam 'Suey' (as he liked to call her), & has 2 brothers Lee & Matt. He also had an extended family in Jo's parents Karen & Rick, Jo's sister, & a nephew & 3 nieces. Chris had countless friends, starting with those from his days growing up in Birkenhead, to many he met along his life journey including those most recently in his career as a CID Detective Constable within Greater Manchester Police. Each & every person who knew him has their own precious memories of what a unique & special person he was, & can comment on his bravery, dignity & determination over the past 2 years. Chris is missed more than is imaginable, & will always be loved & remembered with a smile. All those who knew him will have countless happy memories due to his infectious personality. It's true what they say - 'A candle that burns as twice as bright, burns for half as long.' xxx Every donation made to this website will go directly to Chris's specialist team at The Christie, & will be used for all work relating to Upper Gastrointestinal cancer. Already raised at Chris's funeral was a fantastic £2,120.21. Thank you to everyone who contributed already, & for any future donations. 20th June 2011 - The University of Central Lancashire have just awarded Chris a posthumous degree in Criminal Investigation. We're all very proud of him, & looking forward to December's ceremony to collect it on his behalf xxx 6th September 2011 - Chris's leaf went onto the Tree of Hope today. Thanks to everyone who has donated or took part in events to make this happen. 6th December 2011 - Chris & Jo's family travelled up to Preston Guild Hall to accept Chris's degree on his behalf. A very emotional day, but once again we are all extremely proud of what he achieved. 18th April 2013 - Today I won a Juice FM Inspiration Award for 'Contribution to Charity'. The award has to be shared with Chris who started the fundraising off by completing the Great Manchester Run just a week after finishing his 6th round of chemo, and Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride a few weeks in 2009.
